Frequently Asked Questions

With orchids, pot sizes aren’t always relevant to plant sizes. Pot sizes are quoted as the diameter across the top of the pot, and as orchids generally prefer smaller pots, the leaf span of the plant almost always far exceeds the pot diameter.

This is measured from the extremity of one leaf across to the extremity of the other leaf. Where a plant has an upright growth habit, we will usually quote an approximate height of the plant from the top of the pot.

A mericlone is a tissue cultured plant that in the vast majority of cases will have flowers identical to those of the original plant.  Some variations are still possible particularly when very fine or detailed markings are present on the flowers.  Cultural conditions can also result in flower variations amongst mericlones.  A seedling however is a unique plant raised from the hybridising of two parent plants, and in most cases flower shape, size and colour can vary from plant to plant within a population.

It is best to keep the light and temperature exposures lower than normal for a few days after arrival, and introduce some moisture straight away if the potting media appears dry.

Can I pick my order up in person from the Nursery?

It is a good idea to do this if possible so that we can ensure we are available at the time you’d like to visit.

As all plants are wrapped, the charge is for packing and freight and this attracts a minimum charge. Provided the parcel remains under the 3kg cubed weight, you can add more plants and stay at the $20 rate.

No. Unless we have a prior arrangement with you, we aren’t open on weekends.
